The Big Day

Well the big day finally came. On Sunday Sept. 6th Lee wanted to go to the lake so I got up to get ready to go & I felt a trickle. I went to the bathroom & said "Maybe we should go to Bismarck" He asked why although he had a good idea why. So we packed our stuff & headed to Bismarck. I wasn't having contractions yet. Lee asked if he could speed but I told him no. When we got checked into the hospital is when my contractions started. They said I was till only dilated to 1. So I walked the halls for a while. Now I was a 2. I was having contractions & they were coming on regularly & getting stronger but I wasn't dilating as fast as I should have been. I asked for the narcotic pain pill. After getting that it didn't feel like it was helping so then I asked for an epidural. That helped for a little bit. They also put me on pitocin to see if that would help me to dilate faster. By now I was dilated to a 3. But when the doctor came in she said I may have to have a c-section. Since I wasn't dilating for as regular as my contractions were coming. She said the head may not be in position or I've just stalled out. I really didn't want an c-section. She said she would give me another hour or so. A little bit later I could feel pain again, the nurse checked me & said I was still at a 3. Then another nurse came in to double check she said no she's at a 8.5-9. So a little bit later I was pushing! I pushed for almost an hour. It didn't seem like that long From the time my water broke til he was born was about 12 hours. He was born at 3:05am on Monday Sept. 7th. He weighed 6 lbs 13oz & was 19.5 in. long. We named him Rhyse Lee Unruh. (Pronounced Reese)

We left the hospital on Wed. The first night was a little rough. He had 4 huge poops throughout the night & wouldn't sleep without us holding him. I think maybe he didn't feel well. Last night it was a lot better we either put him in the bassinett to sleep or in his swing. So we or I should say I got decent sleep. He wakes about every 2-3 hours.
